If you want to try out some new styles of hijab, you’ve come to the right place. I looked for the most popular ways of wearing the headscarf with different fabrics and was not disappointed. Different fabrics call for the options of different styles, and below, you’ll find just that.
Silk scarves
Using silk headscarves for a hijab is a trend that has been around for a long while; you ha’ve probably seen old Hollywood pictures of actresses wearing them in a convertible car.
It has come back into trend recently, and is a perfect material for hijabis.
Using an undercap underneath, fold the scarf into a triangle, then grab two ends on each long side, place it on your head and tie it below your chin. You can use pins to secure the scarf also.
Cute and effective, this is a great style for the summertime.
Pashmina
A reliable and popular choice, this is a material you will find in every hijabi’s wardrobe. Soft and lightweight, it will be an ideal option for the increasingly warm weather we’re getting. So, if you haven’t got one yet, this is your sign to go buy one!
As it’s reliable due to the material being one not to slide off, it’s perfect for when you’re busy and don’t want to be fixing your hijab constantly. An easy way to style it is placing it on your head and simply wrapping it around your neck.
Chiffon
This material looks classy and is light. Placing an undercap underneath may be a good idea as it can be quite slippery, but there are non-slip options and a range of ways to style it. One of these ways is placing it on your head and using a pin to secure it under your chin. Then take one end of the scarf, wrap it over your head and place a pin where you’d like it to drape from.
Jersey
This is one of the most comfortable options and I can say for sure that all hijabis have at least one jersey scarf. The reason for its popularity also includes the fact that you don’t need to wear an undercap or use pins to secure it!
You can place the scarf on your head, then framing it around your face, take one end and drape it to the back. Do the same with the other end. Effortless, yet cute.
Most of these materials can be used to create a sleek, quick hijab style. Similar to the style described above, using whichever fabric, frame the scarf evenly around your face, use a pin to secure under your chin, then taking one side, wrap it behind your shoulder, leaving it to drape.
Another way you can style is by placing the scarf on your head, wrapping it a little behind your ears once, then wrapping it over again but closer to your cheeks. Use a pin to secure it and leave it draping.
The turban style is best used with longer scarves. Using an undercap for security, fold your scarf, place it on your head, then take the two ends to the nape of your neck and tie it. You can then bring one side to the front and tie another knot.
Another option is to follow the same steps, but when it comes to taking the two ends to the nape of your neck, wrap a shorter end around your bun, tuck it in, then wrap the other end around your bun until you are happy with it, and tuck the rest of the scarf in to secure it. Use a pin for more safety.
